Parent Meeting 6/24/09

Thank you to everyone who came to the Parent Meeting last night! We discussed some of the changes to the program and plans for the new season. Outlined below are the points we hit on at the meeting and where we go from here. As always, if you have any questions feel free to drop by and or write me an email!

-Numbers: Over 95 students registered in the program so far (it continues to grow).
-Therefore we need more Optis! We are short 8...so dig around in the garage or backyard, get your neighbor to do the same and or become a proud new owner! We will take almost anything...we primarily are looking for boats that are 5 years old or younger.
-Lunch changes: See updated post below for menu and outline of the new changes. As always you can pack your own! DO NOT send your kids with candy--it makes a huge mess and will not be offered at the Snack Bar for kids in the Program.
-Adventurers class: Going to be a great success with plans that include building a boat and overnight trips!
-Non-sailing-conditions activities: See link on right side of page for an ever growing list of fun-filled activities for the kids when the weather just ain't right...
-Children and photos online: If you are concerned about your child's photo being placed online, please contact me and I will make sure they are not photographed!
-Class Lists: We will be posting class lists with student, instructor, and parent names on the log-in section of the AYC website (not the blog) for the parents (and students) to get in contact with each other. I will not be giving out email addresses or phone numbers--these can be found in the directory and on the online directory.

Another note that was brought up was kids being able to leave during the middle of the day from camp. The State regulations prohibit children leaving camp and returning. If your child is not participating in one aspect of the camp (only doing tennis or sailing) it is expected that they come late or leave early. If your child is walking home on their own, you must fill out an Alternate Camper Release Form--which can be found on the Important Documents Link on the right.
