Our second to last Friday was a great success which was only aided with the best weather of the summer -- highs in the 80s, nice steady breeze, and dry tennis courts! We had very few kids in class (2 in Opti 2, and 1 in Opti Race) as many (14) were off to the Tim Baker Trophy at Sandy Bay YC in 420s while others (14+) participated in a friendly tennis match versus Bath and Tennis! This left a daring few in classes, and although all were Opti kids, each were able to sail in 420s and buzz around the river and bay on traps, and enjoy the sun and sand over on the beach!
Preliminary results from Tim Baker look good, with a solid showing for many of our 420 Race Team kids, and the tennis match, although friendly, did result in many wins for the AYC doubles and singles players! Congratulations and job well done!
We're all looking forward to next week with mixed feelings, but we know it will be a lot of fun with informal tennis matches in most classes all week, kids off to Essex Country Club for their annual tennis tournament, an Opti regatta at SBYC on Wednesday (see below for details), Prize Night on Thursday (hope you can make it), and The Bay Series, which will be held on Friday in both Optis and 420s (more details to follow...) with the traditional cookies and lemonade, and trophies for best in-house AYC sailors! So bring your game face and continue to do your sun and wind dances and we'll all look forward to a great last week of camp!
